Hotel Marmore
Our history
A classic Cervinia hotel with a story that began in 1935.
It all started in 1935
Everything started with Mario Germano, a Piemontese young workman who came to Cervinia in 1935 to build the lifts to Plan Maison, and his wife Ivonne Maquignaz, a local woman from Chambave who every summer moved with her family to Breuil to graze cows in the pastures they owned.
In the early 1940s they already had a small tavern with two tables and four chairs where they served food and wine. In 1948 the first stone of the hotel was laid; the tavern became a small bar and a baker and food shop were added beside it.

Growth through the decades
By 1951 the hotel had two floors. Further wings and floors followed through the 1950s and 1960s — including a ballroom with live music, ensuite bathrooms, and what became one of the most popular bars in town, remembered for the scent of hot chocolate at the entrance.
In 1973 all rooms had private bathrooms. A large renovation in 1992 created superior rooms with sofa-beds and relax areas in the South wing.
Grand opening in December 2017
From 2015, under STS Alpresor, Hotel Marmore underwent two years of renovation. The hotel reopened for winter 2017–18 ready to start a new chapter — combining its rustic Aosta-style heritage with modern comfort in the village centre.
